Our trip to Iceland began in the vibrant capitol city of Reykjavik. We then toured the Golden Circle, which included stops at Pingvellir National Park where the American and European tectonic plates meet, Gullfoss Falls, and finally the Kerid crater. We travelled along the southern coast where we took an ATV ride along Black Sand Beach and a boat ride on Glacier Lagoon. We explored the eastern fiords with a beer stop in the charming coastal town of Seydisfjordur. The next stop was Lake Myvatn, which included a whale watching trip from the port city of Husavik. Afterwards, we travelled west along the northern fiords with stops in Akureyri and Siglufjordur, the northern most town in Iceland. Stopping along the coast felt like standing at the edge of the world. We then headed southwest where we explored the enchanting land of Snaefellsnes peninsula. Kathy made good friends with a local herd of wild Icelandic horses.
